Over the past few weeks, I have been working wonderful delusions of competance, but today got my come-upance. My biggest fault as an instrument maker, and one that causes me sooooo much extra work, is I dont know how to sharpen tools. 6 months ago is bought a set of three hones and was never happy with who they are. not seem to work and were wearing out very fast. Well today I found some searching and found them on the net is a nice touch! up on lee valley's site. Then just had to take my shower? on the computer very what I assumed to a nice metal BOTTOM, roughed up to stead the things, IS THE TOP! no wonder they did not appear the diamonds are imbedded on the nickle steel TOP. I looked at the info in disbelief and after the headache faded and before the self inflicted forehead bruises set in I gave it a try..
damned if I dont have to very nicely honed and razor sharp tools now.
sigh......
So much of the wind, for this activity come with the belief that the honestly know what you are to Bad assumption with me as they am entirely 100% self taught from the first non-modulated of sawdust up. Well I have an that this is what combination of job and schooling and here is another lesson. I do think I will use pass the exam for sharpening 101 for dummies.
